FALL IS HERE! FALL IS HERE!

I am so flipping excited because fall is my absolute favorite. I was actually excited about a week ago when I drove past dunkin donuts and their sign said “pumpkin spice lattes and muffins are now here!” because that just means that it’s that time of year again… but of course a day later the thermometer in my car read 90 degrees… Ohio weather, I’ll tell ya.

Anyhoo… I LOVE FALL! Leaves changing, the air smells beautiful, s’mores, pumpkin carving, pumpkin patches, hay rides, hoodies, boots, scarves, hot chocolate, cuddling, football games… I can go on and on and on. I AM SO EXCITED 🙂 I am brewing some dunkin coffee as we speak and my mom brought me some pumpkin spice creamer so I am about to be one happy camper. When I am older I will be living in New England and sheesh, if I am so in love with fall here I am going to be even more so there! I was in Boston (favorite place. ever.) in the fall and it was breathtaking. I hope to go back very very soon. I’m trying to actually get to DC and Baltimore this fall so hopefully that will be a sight as well.

Take a looksie at the picture…Boston Commons in the fall 🙂 October 2008.

This weekend flew by, as always. Hrmm… Friday was nice because I had the day off from tennis practice so that meant a date with my lovely boyfriend 🙂 He took me to Max&Erma’s which I looove because I am addicted to their tortilla soup. Next we went shopping at Belden Villiage where my true jewishness came out and I got a dress for 10dolla from American Eagle and a shirt for 3 buckaroos at Kohls.

Saturday was perfect because I got to see my family! I met my mom, grandma, aunt and her motherinlaw out in Hartville because they have an outdoor flea market. I got a swweeeet white chunky watch and I bought some Steelers stuff for my man! We had lunch at the delicious Hartville Kitchen.

Sunday morning I woke up to Sean’s roommate making me a delicious breakfast. After that, Shannon and I went to edit our pages for The Dynamo and, after three hours, they turned out beautiful. Can’t wait to see them on Wednesday!

#nowplaying PEACOCK by Katy Perry. I freaking love Katy Perry.

This week will be great because I am going to wear sweaters and my boots and drink coffee and I will be in a great mood. 🙂

You can travel the world

I want to travel the world. I have this crazy passion to just go EVERYWHERE. Okay, maybe not everywhere, but close. I already have a little knack for the concept and I’ve tried to visit many places thus far in my life — I am only 20! Boston is my favorite place in the entire world and I hope to live there someday.

I love Chicago and NYC as well — I’m meant to be a city girl. Of course I have been to all of the family vacation hotspots; Myrtle Beach, OBX, Disney, etc… I’ve also ventured to Cabo San Lucas, Cancun and a few islands down by the Bahamas. But, mark my words, I will have a long list of places I’ve been and pictures to go along with it. Maybe I’ll write a book about my travels someday… Hmm. Someday.

October 5th — mark your calendars. TUCKER MAX will be in C-Land. That’s my boy. I love love love meeting famous people; it’s kind of a weakness for me. But seriously… I LOVE TUCKER. I ready “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” right when it came out! Wanna hear the sweet part? I found out about in when I was visiting Boston!  My man Tuck has a new book out which I CANNOT WAIT TO READ and he is going to sign it for me when I buy it!! And I am going to get my picture taken with that asshole. YEEE!

I am going to watch more Sex and the City before I fall asleep and have another abfab day tomorrow.

Spread the love.

happiness goes a long way

I can’t stress enough how much I love being a communications major. I thought last year I was involved a lot when I wrote & took picture for the Dynamo (newspaper), filmed things at Studio M, did PR for studio M, was a judge on a show on the channel and had a talk show. I also was the sponsorship director for WRMU and I had a radio show. I also was the alum relations chair for my sorority and I got to design these kick ass newsletters every month to get sent out to former gammas. Anyways, as if I wasn’t involved enough I just can’t resist joining more. I jumped on board of the Association of Women Students marketing team to help promote a huge event they hold every year. Also, I joined the Sport Business Association and I am SO excited to mix my comm major with my sport business minor. However, what I am most excited about is PRSSA. I LOVE PR. I think you get that by now (pr director, pr manager, the list goes on and on) and now for this organization I get to write press releases and design more fliers and just do so much. I dedicate myself so much to the organizations I am involved in.

WRMU holds a special place in my heart  and always will because I have found the best of friends(see picture) and I have a blast participating in as much as possible within the station. I feel that in the past two years the station has grown so much and it is simply amazing. We are changing things around, improving different parts… I can’t even describe how great it is when we order 2 pizzas for our staff meetings and there are so many people we have to emergency order 2 more!

Also I am loving being an editor for The Dynamo more and more because 1) its super legit and 2) I LOVE GRAPHIC DESIGN. I look so forward to Sundays when I have to venture to the library, edit articles and play on Adobe InDesign for two or three hours. This week my page got messed up a little bit because someone went to add in a picture and moved something– but it’s ok! still looks good. at our editors meeting the other day our senior editor called me out and complimented me on how much of an InDesign whiz I am and that I should teach people how to do my sweet stuff 🙂 Holler. But I know my hard work, passion and dedication is going to take me very far. I just can’t get enough.

and also, our radio show is KICK ASS. I love having a weekly show where I get to go sit with my best friend for two hours, talk about anything and play all of our favorite music and get recognized for it. just one of wrmu’s many perks 🙂

I’ve come to the conclusion that I really want a venus fly trap. Why, you ask… well… I don’t know. How many people do you know who own one? Not many, I can promise you. I really want a kitten but one of my housie’s boyfriends is allergic so I am stuck with a VFT (haha, downgrade?). Not to mention our house has many flies because we like fresh air and we open windows and doors too much — oops ! Be spontaneous; life is more fun that way.

hobos in the basement?

I don’t even know where to begin seeing as I don’t even remember where I left off.

I shall start with the most interesting story yet…

I told you I live with four other girls. I love it, it’s fun, it gets wild but let me be the first to say it’s an adventure. Girls get paranoid way too fast and it is hysterical.

We have a creep-ass basement. I think I’ve mentioned this before but there is a cave that you can’t even see the ending to. Out of control. Anyways, lately the other girls have been noticing that random lights have been left on down there. No biggie, there are five of us who go in and out of the laundry room; it is almost inevitable that a light gets left on every now and then. Wellll last week Kate swears that she was the only one down there all day and the most random light was left on. Uh oh. Then we realize that there is an open window in one of the random rooms that our landlord said that he “left it broken because the last residents liked it incase they ever got locked out.” Whoa. Well the other night Kelly hears something crash in the basement at about 12:30am. Yikes. She flips, we go down there with Mase, flashlights, knives, the whole she-bang. Now they are convinced somebody is down there. They believe that there has been someone down there the whole time we’ve been living here. Um hi, he hasn’t robbed us… so they think we just have a homeless man living down there. Lol. You must admit, it is funny. But wait… it gets better. The very next day after Kelly heard something crash in our basement, the bank on our street got robbed. I am not linking the two together but it is just a very weird chain of events. But still, the story gets better. Shannon and I are home alone the day of the robbery and our Station Manager from WRMU calls her to ask her if there are cops by our house. She says she can’t see anything and he replies “well something bad happened and the cops are chasing this guy around your neighborhood. idk what happened yet but the guy is on foot and cops are searching every where.” SWEEEET. So Shannon and I are standing there, home alone and scared. We’re standing there like idiots just like, “uhh what do we do next?” when ALL OF A SUDDEN we hear freaking footsteps!!! WTF?! We look at eachother and just start running in circles while screaming! we book it into my room and i lock the door behind us and fly into my closet. I fell into a bin of clothes that was in there and Shannon pulled a bunch of crap off of a rack. We frantically call the girls we live with to send out an SOS but no one answers!! Finally Cayla answers and informs us that she is still home; she didn’t end up leaving with the other girls. Pffft! Later that day we got an email from campus security about a robber running around town. The next day the paper had a picture of the cops walking around the streets with guns tryin to fight this guy.

Funny side note: the Alliance Review titled the article “lone gunman robs bank” and then the article said “the man was not believed to be armed.” Dumbasses.

So there you have it folks… told ya these idiotic stories would be flowing.

Anyhoo, we all know I am obsessed with Sex and the City. I have every episode on DVD and it is basically always on in my room. Well the other day I had to write an essay about how people different than us respond to media so I chose Sean as my study and wrote about how the straight white male responds to SATC. Well, while writing this essay I put myself in his shoes and watched a few episodes to see what a guy thinks about it. Talk about changing one’s view. These women tear men apart, are selfish, expect too much, are bitches, are evil, talk a lot of shit… shall I go on? They just dispose of men. Of course a guy would watch this show and totally put girls in this stereotypical world. This just is real proof that media influences people. I mean and this is only one thing that I have researched/experimented with/observed. Now that my mind is focused on these sorts of things I am going to notice EVERYTHING. Hmm.

What else what else…

First issue of The Dynamo came out this past week and my first edited page looked great:) I only had two little stories to work with so I had to work with the page to make it look nice and I’ll have to admit it worked. Today I spent another two hours working on next week’s issue and I am even more pleased with this one. If I keep improving week by week this year is going to be great. Here is a link to the Dynamo website incase you ever wanna do some reading! I don’t write very much but, incase you didn’t know, I am the Student Life Editor so I edit the articles for that page and do the layout on the printed issues! http://www.mountuniondynamo.com/

Late Night Jams was a huge success this week! We had listeners calling in from Cleveland, Columbus and Carrollton! All sending love, of course!

Word for the wise: Don’t drink FOUR LOKOs. Nuff said.

ending on this note:

being in love is absolutely fabulous.

Make it through week #1 = check.

Seriously, for some reason I can not blog. I try and try and try and eventually give up. Goal #1 for the year: BLOG consistently. If you search the different blogospheres you can find about 3 or 4, maybe more, accounts with about one or two passages each. I can promise you that they all start with me explaining that I can’t keep a blog and there is proof. However I will prove myself wrong.

It has been quite some time since my last update so maybe this will be a thick passage, maybe not.

I have survived Week One of my junior year. My classes this semester are going to be the most difficult/demanding as they have ever been but I am ready for it. It will be a good change to actually keep me busy with school work. The past two years my schedule has been a breeze. I rarely had homework and I rarely had to study. (I will regret saying this later but) I am kind of excited to change up my pace a little bit…

This year WRMU is going to rock. We had our retreat last week and also our first Directors meeting and all I can say is I have learned SO MUCH this summer from my internship and I brought 1000 new ideas to the WRMU table and I couldn’t be more excited to get this show on the road. Our first DYNAMO meeting is tomorrow and I am beyond stoked about it. I will be an editor this year which means one thing to me: LAYOUT! God I love doing layouts. I would marry ADOBE INDESIGN if I could. That is a slight exaggeration, I’ll admit, but you get the jist of how much I do love it. I was the Layout Editor for my school paper in high school and I worked for the paper there for 3 years and absolutely LOVED it. I have been writing and taking pictures for the Dynamo since I was a freshman…Over the years my love for writing has started to fade but I am thrilled to edit and do layout. YAY YAY YAY. 🙂

This weekend was my aunt’s annual labor day party and I’ll just say this: I love my family.

I had a wonderful weekend with Sean. We went to the Canfield Fair on Friday, had a nice night in Saturday and then spent today beebopping around Alliance and the surrounding cities. I love fall weather and spending a beautiful day like today out and about with him could not be more perfect.

I am so excited to finally wear hoodies! Also I was able to bust out my long sleeved plaid shirt collection! Yes. Next stop, boots. I LOVE FALL!

I do miss home though, a lot a lot a lot. Seeing my mom yesterday really made me miss her like crazy. Also, I really miss my cats lol NOT A CRAZY CAT WOMAN, I PROMISE 🙂 But when I am laying in my cozy bed I would love nothing more than Rory or Frankie to be cuddled up like this right next to me:)

Note my hoodie in the picture with Frankie— Buckeyes. This serves as my shoutout to football season. I love the weather, I love the atmosphere, I LOVE WRMU’s PREGAME PARTIES but most of all I love a guy’s passion towards football. (Ask me again in a month if I feel the same way)  I find it so extremely sexy when a guy is into football. Must just be the masculinity.

Last Tuesday was the first LATENIGHTJAMS of the year! My best friend and I have our very own radio show on WRMU every Tuesday from 10-12! KEEP ON SHAMMIN!

Have a good week friendsies. Keep it real.
