I don’t even know where to begin seeing as I don’t even remember where I left off.
I shall start with the most interesting story yet…
I told you I live with four other girls. I love it, it’s fun, it gets wild but let me be the first to say it’s an adventure. Girls get paranoid way too fast and it is hysterical.
We have a creep-ass basement. I think I’ve mentioned this before but there is a cave that you can’t even see the ending to. Out of control. Anyways, lately the other girls have been noticing that random lights have been left on down there. No biggie, there are five of us who go in and out of the laundry room; it is almost inevitable that a light gets left on every now and then. Wellll last week Kate swears that she was the only one down there all day and the most random light was left on. Uh oh. Then we realize that there is an open window in one of the random rooms that our landlord said that he “left it broken because the last residents liked it incase they ever got locked out.” Whoa. Well the other night Kelly hears something crash in the basement at about 12:30am. Yikes. She flips, we go down there with Mase, flashlights, knives, the whole she-bang. Now they are convinced somebody is down there. They believe that there has been someone down there the whole time we’ve been living here. Um hi, he hasn’t robbed us… so they think we just have a homeless man living down there. Lol. You must admit, it is funny. But wait… it gets better. The very next day after Kelly heard something crash in our basement, the bank on our street got robbed. I am not linking the two together but it is just a very weird chain of events. But still, the story gets better. Shannon and I are home alone the day of the robbery and our Station Manager from WRMU calls her to ask her if there are cops by our house. She says she can’t see anything and he replies “well something bad happened and the cops are chasing this guy around your neighborhood. idk what happened yet but the guy is on foot and cops are searching every where.” SWEEEET. So Shannon and I are standing there, home alone and scared. We’re standing there like idiots just like, “uhh what do we do next?” when ALL OF A SUDDEN we hear freaking footsteps!!! WTF?! We look at eachother and just start running in circles while screaming! we book it into my room and i lock the door behind us and fly into my closet. I fell into a bin of clothes that was in there and Shannon pulled a bunch of crap off of a rack. We frantically call the girls we live with to send out an SOS but no one answers!! Finally Cayla answers and informs us that she is still home; she didn’t end up leaving with the other girls. Pffft! Later that day we got an email from campus security about a robber running around town. The next day the paper had a picture of the cops walking around the streets with guns tryin to fight this guy.
Funny side note: the Alliance Review titled the article “lone gunman robs bank” and then the article said “the man was not believed to be armed.” Dumbasses.
So there you have it folks… told ya these idiotic stories would be flowing.
Anyhoo, we all know I am obsessed with Sex and the City. I have every episode on DVD and it is basically always on in my room. Well the other day I had to write an essay about how people different than us respond to media so I chose Sean as my study and wrote about how the straight white male responds to SATC. Well, while writing this essay I put myself in his shoes and watched a few episodes to see what a guy thinks about it. Talk about changing one’s view. These women tear men apart, are selfish, expect too much, are bitches, are evil, talk a lot of shit… shall I go on? They just dispose of men. Of course a guy would watch this show and totally put girls in this stereotypical world. This just is real proof that media influences people. I mean and this is only one thing that I have researched/experimented with/observed. Now that my mind is focused on these sorts of things I am going to notice EVERYTHING. Hmm.
What else what else…
First issue of The Dynamo came out this past week and my first edited page looked great:) I only had two little stories to work with so I had to work with the page to make it look nice and I’ll have to admit it worked. Today I spent another two hours working on next week’s issue and I am even more pleased with this one. If I keep improving week by week this year is going to be great. Here is a link to the Dynamo website incase you ever wanna do some reading! I don’t write very much but, incase you didn’t know, I am the Student Life Editor so I edit the articles for that page and do the layout on the printed issues! http://www.mountuniondynamo.com/
Late Night Jams was a huge success this week! We had listeners calling in from Cleveland, Columbus and Carrollton! All sending love, of course!
